Who We Are & What We Do
We are Ralph Thoresby Peer Supporters. Ageing from years 7-13, we are fully trained in offering support to victims of bullying and we are all Anti-Bullying Ambassadors for Leeds. In each year group, their are 2-4 ambassadors trained to deal with bullying. We provide knowledge and experience offering emotional, social or practical help to our peers. We monitor situations within the school environment and approach students who we feel are in need of support. Working with both victims and culprits, we try to make people realise how actions always have consequences. We pass on our knowledge and send out the message that every pupil is valued and that they belong to a caring community.
Our Ethos
Ralph Thoresby is not just your school, it is our school and we need to make the school a better environment for everybody.
We aim to make life easier for younger students settling in to the school by mentoring them; this involves helping them with their problems which could be homework, emotional worries ,helping them find an activity they enjoy or helping them overcome situations which causes them distress.
However, we don’t just offer help/support to younger students, we are here to help everyone!
If you are in need of help, we are more than happy to talk to you and help you overcome your issues.
Don’t suffer in silence.
In School
You will see our ambassadors and staff wearing our 'peer supporter' t-shirts around school. These t-shirts have been created so that students around school are aware who they can speak to if they are a victim or see bullying taking place.
The t-shirts also show details of how students can get in touch with Anti-Bullying ambassadors by giving the school web address, a phone number which they can text and also an email address which they can use.
These methods of contact are ideal for those students who may be bullied but are worried about approaching one of our ambassadors in school.
