School Software Access
Below you will find a list of the various software items that we use in school. Each software item carries a different method to gain access and use.
Download the ‘My Ed’ app from your app store to find all the up to date information about the school and your child. We must have your up to date contact information in order for you to fully use the app. Please ensure that we have your correct email address and mobile phone number at all times. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure that school has the correct contact information at all times.
Once you have downloaded the app, search for ‘Ralph Thoresby School’ then select the school when it shows. Ensure that you create a password to protect the app.
Please remember that it is only ‘priority 1’ contacts that have access to the ‘My Students’ section of the app, so please make sure that you inform the school of who should have this access – this is normally the first named parent.
The school offers students the ability to download and use Microsoft office 365 products. These include things such as WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT etc. Whilst the student is at school they can use these programs. All that is required is the school email address and password, given to each student when they join Ralph Thoresby School.
• Sign in to office 365 (search ‘365’ on google)
• Click on the menu button at the top left hand side
• Click ‘Office 365’ (Top right of the pop out menu)
• Click on ‘Install Office Apps’
• This will then download the installer and you can run it on your PC or MAC, just like you would when installing other software programs
To access Classcharts (our school behaviour and homework monitoring system) you will require an access code. The access code is sent out to parents of new Y7 students during the second week of term. If you are joining the school at a different point of year you can speak to your child’s head of year to retrieve your access code.
Go to www.classcharts.com to set up your account with your access code. You can also download the app via your app store.
Parents’ evening booking system
This information is sent out, via email and the school smartphone app, before any parents’ evening. Use your contact information (must be the same as we have on record) to access the system and book your appointments. Please see the ‘parent portal’ section for more information.
Access to the ParentPay system is sent out to parents of new Y7 students before the summer break preceding the September entry to Ralph Thoresby School. Please contact to the school office via the app or via email@example.com to get your access information. We are moving towards becoming a cashless school, so all payments for food/resources/trips etc at school will run through parentpay
Subject specific software
Many departments use other software programs in school for specific purposes. Information regarding access to these programs will be given to each student at the point of need.
