I would like to invite you to our Y8 options information evening on Thursday 8th July between 6:30pm and 7:30pm.  This event will give you an outline of the different qualifications that are available, ranging from GCSEs to BTEC’s and Diplomas alongside lots of other vocational qualifications for your son/daughter to choose from at Key Stage 4.

 

In January of Year 9, students will have to decide what options to take at Key Stage 4 and students are placed into pathways based on their performance during Key Stage 3 and our knowledge of how your son/daughter works best.  These different routes help to make sure that our students are given the very best opportunities to achieve success.  During the evening I will provide you with information about the different pathways available and which one seems the most appropriate for your child at the present time.

You will also receive an outline of the important dates and assessment periods during Year 9.  Students will start their GCSEs in some subjects next year and will also have some external modular exams and controlled assessments to complete.  You can help them prepare for these and we can give you plenty of advice and guidance on how to do this.

Your son/daughter is more than welcome to attend with you although this isn’t necessary as they will receive this information through assemblies and our Enrichment days.  The first part of the evening will be a short talk, which will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity to speak to staff and some Year 10 students individually about the different courses available.
