Students from years 9 – 11 travelled to Owlcotes in Pudsey on Tuesday 15th December to support the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund. They sang several carols including Away in a Manger, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and Once in Royal David’s City. These carols were sung by everyone at Ralph Thoresby School who came on the trip with us, but joining them were soloists who sang songs like White Christmas and Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer. The organiser’s of the day were Mrs Susan Liles who is Head of Music and Sheila McFarlane who co-runs the choir.

Ralph Thoresby School held their 10th annual Talent Show prior to the New Year in the John Sowerby Theatre. Over 60 acts were auditioned and whittled down to a packed programme enjoyed by enthusiastic audiences and co-hosted by Dean Smith, star of ‘Waterloo Road’. This particular show had a slight twist due to being streamed live on the Internet. Messages poured in from family members who couldn’t make the show and as far a field as the States and Portugal who were delighted to see students performing live in the show – an extra special Christmas treat for them.
